Amoco Goes Beyond Business
Amoco and the Institute of International Education have wrapped
up a five-month series of lectures in Houston focusing on Russia.
The Amoco Distinguished Lecture Series featured Russian author and poet Yevgeny Yevtushenko; U.S. Ambassador to Russia Thomas Pickering; journalist Melor Sturua; Thane Gustafson, director of energy and politics for Cambridge Energy Research Associates; and Dr. Mikhail Piotrovski, director of the State Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg.
Also speaking during Ambassador Pickering's visit to Houston in September were Vladimir Chkhikvishvili, deputy chief of mission of the Russian Embassy in Washington, D.C., and T. Don Stacy, chairman of Amco Eurasia Petroleum Company.
At the close of 1996, the Amoco Foundation committed to a fourth year of funding for the Russian National Orchestra and a third year for the Tretyakov Gallery.
